Rule breaker,

Before you continue reading, I want you to know that I am a scorpio.

If you’re not into astrology, no worries. What this basically means is that I love drama.

When I graduated from college I loved the drama of moving halfway around the world to Paris.

When I was living in Paris I loved the drama of starting my own business and well…living in Paris.

And now that I’m running my own business, I found myself addicted to the drama of inconsistent cash flow + “doing whatever I want” every month without a solid plan.

The ups and downs thrill me. I love all of the craziness that comes with being an entrepreneur!

Except for when I DON’T.

I’ve recently spoken to a whole bunch of entrepreneur friends who have experienced similar drama in their businesses. So if you’d like to get out of the “feast and famine” cycle and start creating real wealth, hit play on today’s video!

Here are the ways you might be adding drama to your business:

1. You rebel against your daily routine. Rebelling against your schedule under the guise that you’re the ceo and you can do whatever you want is no way to run a business. Would you do this if you were running a global enterprise? I doubt it.

2. Every month is a rush to make enough money to pay the bills. Spending all of your revenue every month so there’s no savings in your business.

3. You don’t have a 6 month launch plan and have no idea where your revenue is coming from for the rest of the year. Waiting until the last minute to write your copy, hire a designer, submit client work is amateur behavior. (Can I tell you a secret? Some SUPER pro business ladies I know write their sales copy SIX MONTHS before their launches).

I am SO guilty of all of these things and I recently made a commitment to stop doing them — for my clients’ sake, for my family’s sake, and for my sake.

 

Here’s how to stop the drama:

1. Recognize that it IS drama and let go of the need for it.This will solve 80% of the problem. Once you acknowledge what you’re doing, you’ll start to see the ways in which you’re sabotaging yourself.

2. Get ahold of your business expenses. Put a budget in place and even consider a spending diet if you think things are out of hand.

3. Plan out your projects for the next 6 months. How many clients will you need each month? What will you launch? What promotions will you do?

4.Follow a general schedule. You can totally rebel (yesterday I watched 3 episodes of Orange is the New Black) but try to follow the schedule 80% of the time.

Imagine how fun it would be to have the time + money to do something totally creative!
