Today’s video is all about ideas for the types of non sales emails you can send to your list, that are going to help you build rapport, create a more nurtured relationship, and eventually turn those people into better clients and customers!
I know for a fact that you are frustrated when it comes to what to put in your emails to the people on your list. Besides sending your weekly newsletter, or your sales emails when you’re doing a promotion, what else are you supposed to send them to keep that relationship alive?
So these three ideas I have for you are based on the types of emails that have worked for me in the past, and the present, and so I’m going to share my best secrets with you.
The first type of email I would love for you to be sending more is an email that gives more value for free. I feel like a broken record when I say this, but generosity is the name of the game in online business.
I get emails from people every day who are shocked by how much content I give out for free. Now yes, I want to be generous. It is very important for me to be able to give content out for free for people who cannot afford to work with me on a paid basis.
However, it’s also very strategic, and I’m always curious when people are shocked by how much content I give out for free, what they’re doing. Because, it’s also helping the bottom line of my business, that I publish these videos every single week.
If you don’t even have a website yet, you can still build your list, and you can still nurture people by sharing tips for free every week. So, why not schedule an email for new subscribers that shares with them some of your top tips for solving a specific problem?
Or, if you already have blog posts created on the content, why not share your three best most popular blog posts with them in an email? Chances are they haven’t seen that content yet, they’re brand new to your audience, and that content’s just sitting there waiting for them to read it.
Another creative way of doing this is to share a surprise gift. So people get on your list, ’cause they’ve opted in for you opt in freebie. I think it’s a great idea at a certain point in that first week someone’s on your list, to send them an additional gift for free. This could be an additional checklist, or PDF, or something super simple that’s going to surprise and delight your new subscriber.
The second type of email that I love to send, works very well for me, and I feel builds some good rapport between me and my audience, my tribe, is telling personal stories.
I’ve made a vow to do this more in the new year, and I feel like I’ve gotten kind of stale with my emails.
So it’s important for me every time I send my newsletter, or even in emails I’m writing that are automatically sent out in funnels, to put more of myself and my story into those emails. Humans love story. You can never go wrong by adding more stories to your marketing.

(A little side note on the personal story, ’cause people tend to cross the line here, is that don’t just tell a personal story for the sake of telling a personal story. You always want to tell a story in the context of what you’re trying to share for the reader. Why should they care about the story, why is this story relevant to what you want to talk about in this email? )
And then finally, or maybe firstly, you should always send an email to new subscribers telling them exactly what to expect from being on your email list.
Tell them what day of the week do you publish new content, where can they follow you on social media, what kinds of content can they expect from your business? This is going to set the tone so they know exactly when to expect your emails, and you will keep them opening up your emails, and clicking on those links, and engaging with you as a member of your tribe.
So those are just a few ideas for emails you can send that are non salesy. However, you might be wondering how, “What about the launch emails? What about the sales emails? How do I actually write an email that’s selling, without being annoying, and pushy, and getting so many people unsubscribing?”
