We’re using the free version of ChatGPT for this video. Please note that every time you start a new ChatGPT chat, you will need to re-prompt it for your voice!
STEP 2 – Gather evidence of your voice
As I mention in the above video, the best way to do this is to give it examples of your spoken and written content including:
Blog post
Email newsletter
Sales copy
Podcast, video, or audio transcript (this is what I’m going to use!)
Pro tip: Get a transcript of a podcast or video using Rev.com’s AI feature. It’s so cheap! (I am NOT a paid affiliate of Rev. This is the service we use for all of our YouTube captions and transcriptions.)
STEP 3 – Prompt ChatGPT with your voice examples
Use this prompt:
Analyze the following text for tone of voice, style, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Generate a style guide for writing according to those elements. Use that style guide for all future responses.
Example text #1
Example text #2
Example text #3
STEP 4 – Tweak
Read through the style guide that ChatGPT provided. Is it too vague? Ask ChatGPT to get more specific! (Example in the above video!)
Tell ChatGPT what words and phrases you do NOT want it to use. Make an ongoing list of words and expressions you don’t like. You’ll want to keep this handy.

STEP 5 – Test it with tasks!
Now that you’ve primed ChatGPT with your voice style guide, it’s time to test it out with an innocuous task.
In the video above, for example, I had ChatGPT write a fan letter to Beyoncé.
