This is the last Rule Breaker’s Club blog of 2014!
Because it’s a holiday, this week’s video is super short but packs a punch. KAPOW!
After the video, you’ll get a list of the 8 books that have had the biggest impact on my life. Like, measurable, significant, holy-shit kind of impact!
But first you need to hit “play” on the video because I’ve got a statement that I want you to ponder. (It’ll only take 2 minutes!)
Now, as a gift for you, I’m sharing my absolute favorite resources (with an extra special surprise at the end).
I spent a couple of hours this weekend narrowing down my list of 30 books to the 8 that have had a measurable, significant impact on my life. In many cases, reading these books changed my life by teaching me exactly what I needed to know to get to the next level.
1. Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill
This book was written for those who seek the rules which have made others successful, and are willing to stake everything on those rules.” – Napoleon Hill, Think And Grow Rich
Not only is my version of Think And Grow Rich hot pink on the inside (pictured), but The Rule Breaker’s Club may not exist today if I hadn’t picked up my copy at a bookstore in Paris in 2011. I don’t think I’ve ever met a successful entrepreneur who hadn’t read this book at least once. And while there are many editions out there, I think it’s worth getting the gorgeous hot pink one!
2. Get Rich, Lucky Bitch!, Denise Duffield Thomas
There is no book on earth that I’ve read as many times as Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! First of all, Denise is HILARIOUS. But more importantly, her five-step manifesting formula is flawless, practical, and easy to implement. I’ve used her advice to earn thousands of dollars (tens of thousands, if I’m being honest). Whenever I need to make more money pronto, you can bet my copy of Get Rich, Lucky Bitch is on my desk.
3. How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie
People ask me all the time what kinds of marketing and sales books I read. And honestly? I can’t remember most of them because, well, they were boring ol’ books about sales and marketing. I find that the only book I’ve ever needed to become a better copywriter and entrepreneur is How to Win Friends and Influence People. Every human being should have a copy of this book dog-eared and highlighted sitting on their nightstand.
4. Made to Stick, Chip Heath
Made to Stick is the first book I read when I decided to become a copywriter. And because your #1 job as an entrepreneur is sales (yes, making sales is your priority above EVERYTHING else), if you have a business, I think you should read it, too!
5. The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle
Everyone can think of one book that was THE book that cracked them wide open and changed the course of their life. For me, The Power of Now is that book. Mind. Blown. Wide. Open. When I read this book for the first time in 2010, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, was diagnosed with “general anxiety,” and was kind of freaking out about the future. This book = instant anxiety and stress relief. It makes even the biggest fears seem silly and fake. LOVE.
6. Real Happiness, Sharon Salsberg
A mindfulness researcher at The University of Michigan once invited me to participate in his research group to study the effects of meditation on compassion. “You have to get this book, Real Happiness, by Sharon Salzberg,” he told me. So I did.
Before I read Real Happiness, I had kinda sorta tried meditating before, but never as a serious practice. This book is the best introduction to meditation EVER. And it comes with a CD of guided meditations to practice. I actually just pulled it out this week to re-start the 28-day challenge!
7. Crazy, Sexy Diet, Kris Carr
Hold up, entrepreneurs! So many of us put our health on the backburner for “when our businesses are more successful” or “when we find some extra time.” As a world-changing business lady, your vibrant health is NON-NEGOTIABLE. I’ve finally gotten it into my skull that an investment in my health is actually an investment in my business. No other book has defined my health perspective or made me feel as delicious as Crazy, Sexy Diet!
8. The Tapping Solution, Nick Ortner
It’s not just you — Emotional Freedom Technique (or “tapping”) has been popping up all over the damn place. And there’s a good reason: It’ll rock your socks off! Just like meditation, this “woo woo” technique is being practiced by many of your favorite entrepreneurs and the most successful people on the planet. I personally swear by the power of EFT and use it at least 2-3 times per week to clear out emotional blocks that I can’t afford to have blocking me from achieving my goals. I love this book because Nick Ortner does an excellent job explaining why EFT works and how to do it!
From Amateur to Professional ($17)
The book that teaches you how to let go of your amateur thoughts and replace them with a CEO mindset.
The Name Your Shit Kit ($15)
The ultimate guide to finding the perfect name for everything in your business. You learn the exact step-by-step process I used to create The Rule Breaker’s Club and everything in it!
The Testimonial Gathering Kit ($15)
People often decide whether or not to buy a product based on testimonials alone. In this kit you find out how to automatically get testimonials from everyone you work with (including bigwigs!) and how to use your testimonials for optimum effect.
The $10,000 Blueprint ($25)
The bullshit-free action plan for earning your next $10,000. This blueprint is full to the brim of action steps you can take to start earning more money. And if you need the money, like yesterday, the quickest and most effective action steps are labeled, too!
‘Tis the season of giving, right?!
That’s why I’ve decided to bundle up all of my guidebooks and let you have them for 70% off.
This Rule Breaking Bundle is a mini business course and includes everything you need to step into your CEO persona, establish yourself as an expert, look professional, and take the exact actions you need to take to earn your next five figures.
Don’t wait too long because these guides won’t be available for purchase after December 29. (Except for From Amateur to Professional which will go up in price to $25).
