Earlier today I sat down and asked myself, “why do I like the things that I like?”
Why am I so intrigued by minimalism, zero waste living, and personal finance?
Why do I have such a great desire to travel? To run a half marathon? To run my own business?
The best answer I can come up with is that I’m curious.
I want to challenge myself to see if I can actually do these things! I want to see what it’s like. I want to learn new things and summon my basic assumptions about life to a duel and see who wins.
Every time that I’ve made a major decision, I’ve broken a life rule (oops!).
But! You can’t break any rules if you don’t ask yourself the right questions.
Here are 18 Questions that I’ve asked myself to become a rule breaker:
- Do I have to have a full time job?
- Do I have to live in the U.S.?
- Do I have to get tired after running one mile?
- Do I have to get fat as I get older?
- Do I have to move out on my own at age 21?
- Do I have to compare my lifestyle to that of my peers?
- Do I have to hate my job?
- Do I have to live in a big house full of stuff?
- Do I have to work between the hours of 9 and 5?
- Do I have to own a car?
- Do I have to go to graduate school? To college?
- Do I have to rush through life as if it were a race?
- Does becoming a writer mean that I have to write novels or become a journalist?
- Do I have to use credit cards to survive financially?
- Do I have to get married?
- Do I have to eat meat?
- Do I have to live wastefully?
- Do I have to win the lottery in order to become rich?
Are you a curious person? Craving more? Want to do something MAJOR?
It’s time to start asking yourself these questions!
