Hey rule breaker!
While I was in the process of filming these blog videos, I decided to hop on Periscope to answer any behind-the-scenes questions you have about blogging on a regular basis, filming, etc.
That Periscope broadcast went so well that I decided to turn on my camera (I use a Nikon D3300) and film a quick blog video on how to host a successful Periscope broadcast.
Personally, I use Periscope to:
I’m a pretty “off the cuff” kind of person, so you may be surprised to hear that I don’t do a lot of planning before my Periscope broadcasts (or filming my blogs for that matter!). I’ve never been one to read from note cards or memorize things word for word.
That said, I do have a pretty basic and successful method for outlining my Periscope sessions. This is the method I used in the summer of 2015 to quickly get more than 1,000 followers on the new platform.

#1 Do some prep work. Think about topics that would be interesting to your readers. Come up with a great must-watch title! Brainstorm a bit and think of behind the scenes topics people want to know about. (Use this week’s action sheet to prep your broadcasts in 5 minutes!)
#2 Have a basic structure. Start with an introduction. Be sure to say who are you and what your topic is. Make sure everyone knows what to expect. It’s always helpful to outline a few main bullet points in advance but don’t script it!
#3 Engage and have conversations with those watching. That’s part of the fun! Ask an easy-to-answer question to get people to interact. Or ask people to give hearts to engage.
#4 Have a sign-off. This is when you tell people where to get more info such as on your blog or on another social network. Take a few seconds to let them know when you’ll be on next, and if you have one planned, do a tease of your next scope!
